If you have an accelerator card, to initialize the disks with Quick Format! you will have to follow the same rules you would normally follow with normal initialization operations. That is, you will have to disable the 68020 accelerator card before you launch Quick Format! or the disks will not be initialized properly. If you do not have an accelerator card, then no extra steps are required.
SYMANTEC‚Ñ¢ UTILITIES USERS:
You may have to remove Shield Init from your system folder before using Quick Format!. If you do not, after Quick Format! has finished initializing a disk, Shield Init will do a hard disk update. I don't know why— it just happens. NOTE: This problem seems to have disappeared with version 6.0.
ERROR WHEN RE-INITIALIZING (ERASING)
Sometimes when erasing disks, especially when initializing an old double-sided disk to single sided, an error occurs during the "Write Volume Info" step. More than 90% of the time, re-initialization is not necessary. In the event it is, initialize the disk double sided with just the "Format" option selected before you initialize to single sided. This should permit an error-free initialization.
SYSTEM 7 AND HD FLOPPIES
Sometimes initialization of an HD floppy can take a little longer than expected. I'm not sure what is causing this problem, but I am looking into it.
